What is Bubble Tea?

Bubble Tea consists of a mixture of sweetened tea, milk or soy, and tea flavorings. The beverage is shaken, producing the small bubbles characteristic of the name. Black gummy-like balls made of tapioca, called "pearls," sit at the bottom of the cup. The pearls are sipped through a wide straw along with the drink, providing something fun to chew on with every sip.

What are tapioca balls?

Tapioca balls also known as black pearls or boba, is derived from the starch of the cassava root. When cooked perfectly, the tapioca ball becomes a sweet chewy treat with a gummy-bear like texture about 1/4 of an inch in diameter.

Note: Cassava root is a staple food in many parts of Africa, South America & Asia and is found throughout the humid tropics. Roots are prepared much like potato.

An hour is required to prepare the tapioca, and in the preparation and cooking of the tapioca, the pearls expand considerably. After this period, the tapioca is drained, poured into a light sugar syrup solution, and ready to serve. We cook ours fresh daily.
